InquireSerrano has dedicated approximately 1,000 acres of land to open space, providing a sense of serenity and continuity, while respecting the balance between nature and man. Meandering trails link residential areas to open spaces and restored wetlands, creeks, oak groves and greenbelts. Wildflowers and wildlife – deer, rabbits, wild turkeys and dozens of other species – coexist peacefully with their two-legged neighbors. Parker Development Company planted young oak saplings to complement the magnificent mature Heritage Oaks that stud the rolling hills of Serrano.
In 1999, Serrano expanded its use of recycled water from the golf course, parks and greenbelts to residents’ front and backyards in order to conserve this most precious resource. The recycled water is delivered through a series of purple-colored pipes that are separate from drinking water pipelines in a number of villages. This system puts Serrano at the forefront of the trend toward environmentally-sensitive development and greatly improves the community’s ability to support potable water conservation measures.
Approximately 17 miles of trails (including trail connectors) wind through the Serrano community, providing access to approximately 1,000 acres of natural areas – open space, restored wetlands, creeks and oak groves. In addition to Serrano’s hallmark Heritage Oaks, trail users will see Cottonwoods, flowering shrubs, California Poppies, blue and yellow lupine and tall cattails with their tight brown flower clusters. Walkers may also see turtles, deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, and red tail hawks. As part of the Sierra Foothills, more aggressive wildlife may occasionally be seen in Serrano. Residents and guests are advised to stay on the trails and keep a distance from all wildlife.
